A warm, spiced Indian tea made with black tea, milk, and a blend of traditional spices.

🧂 Ingredients (Serves 2)
1½ cups water

1 cup milk (whole milk preferred for richness)

2 tsp black tea leaves (CTC tea or loose Assam tea works best)

1–2 tsp sugar (adjust to taste)

🌿 Whole Spices (Masala Blend):
2–3 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed

1 small piece cinnamon stick (cassia)

2–3 black peppercorns

2 cloves

1 small piece ginger, sliced or crushed (optional but highly recommended)

Optional: 1 small piece star anise or a few fennel seeds for variation

🍳 Instructions
Step 1: Boil the Spices
In a saucepan, add water and all the whole spices.

Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes so the spices release their aroma.

Step 2: Add Tea & Milk
Add black tea leaves and let it simmer for another 2 minutes.

Now add milk and sugar. Stir well.

Step 3: Simmer & Brew
Let the chai simmer on medium-low heat for 3–5 minutes depending on how strong you like it.

Watch for the frothy boil — reduce the heat if it rises too quickly.

Step 4: Strain & Serve
Strain the masala chai into cups using a fine mesh strainer.

Serve piping hot with biscuits, rusks, pakoras, or just by itself!

☕ Pro Tips:
Adjust the spice levels to your liking. For a stronger kick, add more ginger or pepper.

Want a shortcut? Pre-mix your masala using ground spices and store in an airtight jar.

For vegan chai, use almond milk or oat milk.

🌿 Welza Twist:
Use Welza Green Cardamom, Cassia Cinnamon, Whole Cloves, and Black Peppercorns for a rich and authentic masala flavor. A pinch of Welza Fennel Seeds adds a lovely sweet aftertaste.
