Serves: 3–4 | Makes: 6–8 tikkis | Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins
🧂 Ingredients
For the Tikki:
4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
2 tbsp cornflour or rice flour (for crispiness)
1 green chili, finely chopped
½ tsp grated ginger
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp roasted cumin powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
Oil for shallow frying
For Sprinkling:
1.5 tsp Welza Chaat Masala
Fresh coriander or mint chutney (optional, for serving)
Tamarind chutney (optional)
👨🍳 Method
1️⃣ Prep the Mixture
In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, chopped green chili, ginger, red chilli powder, roasted cumin, salt, cornflour, and coriander.
Mix well to form a soft dough.
2️⃣ Shape the Tikkis
Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into small round or oval patties (tikkis). Flatten slightly.
3️⃣ Fry the Tikkis
Heat 2–3 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan or tawa.
Place the tikkis in the pan and shallow-fry on medium flame until both sides are golden brown and crisp (about 3–4 minutes per side).
4️⃣ Sprinkle with Welza Chaat Masala
As soon as you take the hot tikkis off the pan, immediately sprinkle each with Welza Chaat Masala.
Let them rest for a minute before serving.
🍽 Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney, or curd for a fuller street-style experience.
Optionally top with chopped onions, coriander, and a squeeze of lime.
💡 Welza Tip:
For extra crunch, coat the shaped tikkis in semolina (suji) or crushed cornflakes before frying.
