A warm, fragrant, lightly sweetened apple preserve infused with whole spices—perfect for topping toast, pancakes, or enjoying by the spoonful.
🧂 Ingredients:
4 medium apples (peeled, cored & chopped into small cubes)
2 tbsp jaggery or brown sugar (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder or 1 small cassia stick
2 cloves
1–2 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 cup water
A pinch of salt
👩🍳 Instructions:
Step 1: Cook the Apples
In a saucepan, combine the apples, jaggery, spices, salt, and water.
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
Step 2: Simmer & Soften
Cook uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples soften and the mixture thickens slightly.
If needed, mash some apple pieces with the back of a spoon for a chunky-smooth texture.
Step 3: Finish
Stir in the lemon juice to balance the sweetness.
Remove whole spices if used (cassia, cloves, cardamom).
Let cool slightly—serve warm or chilled.
