A comforting baked twist on classic French toast, infused with cassia cinnamon and topped with a golden, buttery crunch.

🧂 Ingredients (Serves 6–8)
For the French Toast Base:
1 loaf brioche or thick white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 6–7 cups)

4 large eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

1/2 cup heavy cream (or more milk)

1/3 cup sugar

2 tsp Welza Cassia Cinnamon Powder

1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
3 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp cassia cinnamon

2 tbsp butter, melted

🔥 Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Bread
Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Place the cubed bread evenly in the dish. If using fresh bread, let it sit out for an hour or lightly toast it for better texture.

Step 2: Make the Custard
In a mixing bowl, whisk together:

Eggs

Milk + cream

Sugar

Cinnamon + nutmeg

Vanilla

Salt

Pour the mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Lightly press the bread down to soak.

Step 3: Add the Topping
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.

Drizzle the melted butter over the bread, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top.

Step 4: Bake
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.

When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions
Serve warm with:

A drizzle of maple syrup

A dusting of powdered sugar

A dollop of whipped cream or Greek yogurt

Fresh fruit like berries or sliced bananas

Refrigerate leftovers up to 3 days.

Reheat in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
