đź§‚ Ingredients (Serves 2):
1½ cups water
½ cup milk (or more, to taste)
2 tsp black tea leaves or 2 tea bags
1 small piece cinnamon stick
2–3 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
2–3 cloves
4–6 black peppercorns
1 small piece of fresh ginger, sliced or crushed
1 tsp fennel seeds (optional)
1 small piece star anise or a pinch of nutmeg (optional, for depth)
Sugar or jaggery, to taste
🍳 Instructions:
1. Boil Spices
In a saucepan, add water and all whole spices. Bring to a boil and simmer for 4–5 minutes to release the flavors.
2. Add Tea & Simmer
Add the black tea leaves or bags and simmer for 2–3 more minutes. You can adjust the strength depending on your taste.
3. Add Milk & Sweetener
Pour in milk and add sugar or jaggery to taste. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Simmer for another 2 minutes until it's aromatic and well-blended.
4. Strain & Serve
Strain the chai into cups and serve hot. Garnish with a pinch of chai masala on top if desired.
