A bold, aromatic blend of black tea, spices, and milk – India’s beloved comfort in a cup.
🧂 Ingredients (Serves 2):
1½ cups water
½ cup full-fat milk (adjust to preference)
2 tsp black tea leaves (Assam CTC preferred)
2–3 tsp sugar (or to taste)
2–3 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
1 small cinnamon stick
2–3 black peppercorns
2 cloves
1 small slice fresh ginger (or ¼ tsp dry ginger powder)
Optional: 1–2 tulsi (holy basil) leaves or a pinch of fennel seeds for variation
🔥 Instructions:
1. Boil the Spices
In a saucepan, combine water, crushed spices, and ginger.
Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 3–4 minutes so the spices infuse deeply.
2. Add Tea Leaves
Add the black tea leaves and simmer for another 2–3 minutes for strong flavor.
3. Pour in Milk & Sweeten
Add milk and sugar. Bring the chai to a gentle boil, allowing it to rise once.
Reduce heat and let simmer for another minute or two.
4. Strain and Serve
Strain into cups using a fine tea strainer. Serve hot with biscuits or namkeen.
🌟 Tips:
Adjust spice levels to suit your taste – stronger for mornings, milder for evenings.
For a more luxurious version, add a pinch of nutmeg or saffron.
