A bold, spicy, and aromatic chutney made with dried red chillies, garlic, and simple spices — a must-have for heat lovers!
🧂 Ingredients
10–12 dry red chillies (preferably Kashmiri for color + spicy variety for heat)
8–10 cloves garlic, peeled
1 tbsp lemon juice or 1 tsp tamarind paste
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste
1–2 tbsp oil (preferably sesame or mustard oil)
1–2 tbsp water (as needed to grind)
🔥 Optional Add-ons (for flavor variations)
1 tsp roasted peanuts or white sesame seeds (for texture and nutty flavor)
1/4 tsp sugar (to balance the heat slightly)
👩🍳 Instructions
Step 1: Soak Red Chillies
Remove stems and seeds (optional for less heat) from red chillies.
Soak them in hot water for 15–20 minutes until softened.
Step 2: Blend the Chutney
In a blender, add soaked red chillies, garlic, cumin seeds, salt, and a splash of water.
Add lemon juice or tamarind for tang.
Blend to a smooth or coarse paste (as you prefer), adding water as needed.
Step 3: Sauté for Shelf Life
Heat oil in a small pan and sauté the chutney for 2–3 minutes on medium flame.
This enhances flavor and increases shelf life.
